Forest School for Lyndhurst Nursery

The Michael Joyce Memorial Garden has been given a new lease of life as Nursery's forest school kicks off.
We are delighted to share the wonderful development of the MJ Garden, which has now grown into a thriving forest school–inspired space here at Lyndhurst Primary School. This carefully designed area has become an extension of our classrooms, offering children the chance to learn, explore, and thrive within nature.
The garden provides rich opportunities for imaginative and creative play, encouraging our pupils to become curious thinkers and confident learners. Through hands-on experiences—such as building, investigating, storytelling, and exploring the natural world—children are developing important skills that support their independence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities.
For our youngest learners, the MJ Garden is a particularly valuable environment, deeply aligned with the principles of Early Years education. It allows children to follow their natural sense of wonder, learn through play, and develop early foundations for communication, collaboration, and physical development.
We are so proud of how this space is nurturing not only a love of the outdoors, but also the creativity, imagination, and wellbeing of every child. The MJ Garden continues to grow as a place where learning comes to life and where our pupils can flourish in both heart and mind.
