The Scoop Week 12th June 2023

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our InternationalEvening on Friday. It really was a wonderful evening with not only a remarkableselection of food on offer but a special guest appearance from a dance troop! Iwould like to thank not only all of you who donated food but everyone whoattended and also all of the staff who set up, served and cleared away. Theseevents really showcase what a fantastic community Lyndhurst is.

Here are this week’s announcements:

Year SixProduction- The Lion King Jr.

The musical production at the end of year six is so veryimportant for so many reasons not least it builds confidence at a time of greattransition and it enables pupils to collaborate together to achieve somethingremarkable. I am a firm advocate of the importance of drama and the theatre andhave seen the positive change in pupils as they prepare to tread the boards. This year with the help of a local independent school, our FOL and some schoolinvestment we have dramatically improved our stage set up. This year we arealso providing costumes rather than asking families to purchase their own (weare working with The Belham to create a bank of costumes to be shared). It isset to be a fantastic show and I would encourage everyone to book a ticketespecially those in years 4-6 so that you get a taste of what’s to come.Tickets can be secured by using thislink and by making a small donation which will fund next year’s performancecosts.

Michael JoyceMemorial Garden:

Michael Joyce was a teacher who worked at Lyndhurst, whilston holiday visiting his parents in Australia he was tragically killed in a caraccident. The school started a memorial garden and also commissioned thebeautiful wooden reading chair currently in the library as a tribute to hisdedication to our school. Over the last term parents and staff have beenworking on the memorial garden to give it a new lease of life. Work is almost complete;the pizza oven has been built and landscaping almost completed. A huge thankyou to everyone who has helped in any capacity—it is greatly appreciated.
