The Scoop Week 27th Feb 2024

Dear Families,

As a school staff we come together once a week to share our celebrations and wins from the week. It’s been lovely over the last few weeks to hear more and more stories of members from outside of our community talking about how brilliant our school community is. This is supported by the high number of first choice applications we received for our reception cohort next year. It’s clear that we are bucking the trend seen across Southwark. It’s important to remember that a full school is one that is fully funded and best able to provide the best version of its provision, so it is great news that our pupil numbers are on the up. Please do keep spreading the word about Lyndhurst.

Here are this week’s notices:

Parents Evening:

Booking for parents evening will open at 2:30pm today on the My Child At School App. Please book one appointment for each child per family(if both parents are unable to attend together, please contact your child’s phase leader or class teacher). The appointments are ten minutes and are for an update on your child’s progress.

Book Week 2024:

With world book is fast approaching. On Thursday, 7th March we are encouraging pupils to dress up as a book character. The attached flyer also details a competition that is running.

Disco:

The second annual FOL Disco was a fantastic success. If you have not been to this event, you really are missing out. A huge thank you to all of those who helped out either on the night or with the organisation, this really was a fantastic event.

Therapy Dogs:

Do you have some spare time and a dog with an easy-going temperament? We are looking to support someone in training their dog (and their owner) in becoming a therapy dog. The school would cover the costs in exchange for a regular commitment for visits. If you are interested please contact Mr Turnham.

Safe Crossing:

It’s been lovely to have our crossing supervisor back again. Can we remind families that it really is worth walking the extra few feet to cross at a safe crossing rather than taking a chance lower down the hill.

Being Safe Online:

Following on from our recent online safety parent session, in the coming weeks we will be directing you to one of the brilliant parent guides available on our website. This week’s guide is on ‘Virtual Reality’. You can view the guide here.

That’s it from us, have a great week.
