The Scoop Week 20th June 2023

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at sports day last week. I know that you will join me in thanking Mr Peddle and all of the members of staff who helped make it such a special event. It was a busy week as it coincided with our Pride week. I for one very much enjoyed hearing about all of the brilliant discussions and activities that took place. This week we have arts week and already classes have visited our giant camera obscura (set up by some parents)—I can’t wait to see what else is in store! I’ve said it before, I know, but this term really is action packed. The year six musical is really coming along and I’m confident it is going to be amazing (more details below). We also have our Summer Carnival this Saturday, which is set to be a fantastic event so do come along on Saturday.

Here are this week’s announcements:

Industrial Action:

Over the weekend the NEU announced some further dates for industrial action (Wednesday, 5th Friday, 7th July). As with previous strike action we will notify you a week before with our arrangements. At this stage we are confident that the year six residential trip will still go ahead as planned.

Gardening Working Group- This Thursday:

We are going to have our very last push on gardening this coming Thursday directly after school. We have plants that have been donated from RHS as well as some that we have purchased that all need planting as well as some more woodchip that needs spreading. No skill is needed just a good attitude and willingness to muck in. If you are available please meet by the reception playground at 3:45pm on Thursday 22nd.

INSET:

A reminder that we have an INSET day on Monday, 26thof June.

Year Six Production- The Lion King Jr.

Tickets are selling out quickly for the year six musical production. Tickets can be secured by using this link and by making a small donation which will fund next year’s performance costs. Book now before it’s too late.

Summer Carnival:

The school fair is next Saturday 24th June  3.00pm-6.00pm.

2.30pm-3.00pm is only for children and families with SEND.

Please check the list of things we urgently need which can be found here. You can bring donations in any day this week and leave them in the boxes outside the office. We also desperately need empty tin cans!

Can you volunteer an hour of their time to help us at the fair? Please send your class rep a message if you can help by doing a slot.

Raffle tickets will be available to pre-buy afterschool this week so keep a look out.

Costume Making Workshop:

From11 until 1pm and again from 3-5pm there will be costume making workshops for the carnival in the upper hall. If you have a sewing machine and or would like to help make costumes from 11-1 and 3-5pm then please get in touch with your class rep. Also, we are on the hunt for recycled. Any cardboard, paper, polystyrene or plastic packaging is welcome. As well as bamboo sticks, fabric, wallpaper ends etc. See the attached poster for more information.

Have a great week.
