The Scoop Week 4th July 2023

Hello Lyndhurst Family,

Dear Lyndhurst families,

This week, year six and some of our staff team are all camping in Swanage, Dorset. In fact, behind me you can just make out Corfe Castle. We’ve already had a half day of activities and have lots more planned. The year six residential is such an exciting and important part of the transition into secondary school and the independence that comes with that.

Here are this week’s announcements.

Ofsted:
Hopefully you will have seen our Ofsted report. We were really pleased to share it with you as it recognises the work we have done and the work that we are planning over the next few years.

Camberwell Feel Good Festival:
This Saturday sees the return of the Camberwell Feel Good Festival on Camberwell Green from 11-3pm. Details can be found in the link in the transcript below.

Term Dates:
Please find attached our term dates for next year. This includes the inset days and early closures planned for the year.

Friends of Lyndhurst Meeting:
This Friday, Friends of Lyndhurst have a meeting in the library at 9 am. All are welcome.

Southwark Summer Food Festival:
Southwark’s Summer of Food and Fun is back this summer between Monday 24th July– Friday 25th August and will offer free places for school children between the ages of 4 – 16 years, receiving benefits-related free school meals or from families with no recourse to public funds. Details can be found here.

Beyond the Classroom:
Thank you to everyone who filled out the preferences form using our new allocation system. We will be in contact with you by Monday, 10th July to confirm your allocated places. If you are offered a club that you no longer want, you must notify Mr Peddle by Monday 17th July to avoid being charged for that club. After the 17th we will offer out a second round of allocation for any clubs with spaces.

Peripatetic Music Scheme:
If your child currently takes part in the peripatetic music scheme you will have already completed a form to indicate your preference between individual or group lessons. For those of you wishing to join the scheme, we will soon be releasing more spaces so watch this space.

Staffing Update:
In our final staffing update before we announce our new incoming staff, I want to thank two members of staff. Mr. Hendrick who has been our gestalt therapist for a number of years, will be leaving us at the end of the summer term. He has had a remarkable career in education and we have been incredibly fortunate to benefit from his experience. I know that he is looking forward to being able to spend more time looking after his grandchildren. I would also like to thank Kasia Kaminska who will be leaving us to work as a specialist computing teacher at Belgravia House. Ms Kaminska has contributed a huge amount to our school during her time with us.
