The Scoop Week 6th June

Hello Lyndhurst Family,

This is by far my favourite of the school terms in part because the weather begins to improve and in part because of the volume of exciting events that happen. This half term we see international evening, Sports Day, Pride Week, Arts Week, carnivals, Refugee Week, year six performances, residentials, art exhibitions, The Proms and much more. In fact, behind me you can see our new stage being set up ready for the year six musical production. It really is an action packed half term.

Here are this week’s notices:

School Streets Consultation:
On Tuesday, 13th June between 5-7pm Southwark are holding a consultation for a School Street. If you want to find out more of have your say this is your chance. The consultation will happen in school in the upper hall.

Year Six Production:
We will be sending out information about how to secure a ticket for our year six production on the 28th and 29th June. Tickets will need to be booked ahead of time. More details will be sent in a separate letter this week.

International Evening:
A reminder that this Friday is International Evening starting at 5pm and ending at 7pm. You can find a flyer for it here. We are encouraging parents and families to wear clothing that represents their heritage or country this could be in the form of national colours or traditional clothing. As in previous international evenings, we plan to have a variety of foods available, please drop off any food donations by 4pm with clear labels indicating the ingredients. This event is a free one and we hope to see lots of families in attendance.

Sports Day:
You will have received a letter yesterday with details of our school sports day. We are sorry for the change to the date scheduled in September but events beyond our control meant we had to make a series of changes. If you have any questions about sports day please speak to your child’s class teacher or Mr Peddle.

Parent Survey:
Our parent survey is now open, you can access it here. This is your chance to tell us your views on safety, the curriculum, homework, uniform, communication and also to tell us what we do well or could do better. Please make sure you complete this survey before Tuesday, 13th June at midday.

Class Photographs:
On Tuesday, 13th June our photographer will be in to take class photographs.

Friends of Lyndhurst:
The minutes from the last meeting can be found here. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, 8th June at 8:30pm online.

Come and sing - the Charter Trust
Dr Steven Berryman, Director of Creativity, Music and Culture, is leading a singing workshop for parents and carers on Monday 19 June 6pm - 730pm at The Charter School East Dulwich. Any parents or carers from across our family of schools are welcome - please email Steven to let him know you’d like to attend sberryman@tcset.org.uk
Do follow our trust-wide Arts Twitter account - @CharterArts_ - and do tag the account when you’re attending arts events in our schools.

Year 6 Production:
Work is underway for our year six production. We are looking for adults who can help with costumes, makeup or set design. If you are interested, please contact Ms Savvides directly.

Staff Changes:
We are both sad and excited to announce that Ms Saeed will be leaving Lyndhurst to work as an Art Technician at Queen’s Gate School. Ms Saeed joined us over ten years ago in what she described as ‘something that was only meant to be for a year or two’. Whilst we are thankful for all that she has done to make Lyndhurst the place it is now we are also very excited that she is pursuing her passion for specialist art education.

Have a great week everyone.
