The Scoop Week 5th Dec 2023

I wanted to start this week’s scoop with a giant thank you to everyone who helped out or attended the Winter Fair this weekend but especially to those on the core group. The preparation for a big event like this is not small and their hard work is greatly appreciated. If you couldn’t make it on Saturday, you certainly missed out from smores to singing performances it was a brilliant afternoon. I also want to thank our nursery parents who ran a brilliant bake sale two weeks ago.

Here are this week’s announcements:

Midday Staff:

We are currently recruiting for midday staff. Midday staff are a vital part of the school team, they work with our full-time staff to ensure that pupils are regulated, cared for and happy during the longest period of unstructured time in the day. We are looking for someone to work between11:30-13:00 Mon to Fri. If you or anyone you know are interested, please get in touch.

Winter Concert:

Tuesday 19th December sees the return of our spectacular Winter Concert. More details will be sent out shortly but the concert will start at 6pm and children should be at St Giles for 5:45pm join their class and form teacher. This is one of our more formal concerts so we ask that you arrive punctually to avoid disruption. If your child cannot make the concert you will need to notify the school beforehand. Again, to avoid disruption to the children's performances we strongly advise that collection be made at the end of the concert unless arranged earlier with your class teacher (for special circumstances). Pupils will need to wear their school PE kit for the concert (it can be chilly so we advise green jumpers and black bottoms). Lastly, over the last couple of years we've noticed a rise in background noise from those standing at the back of the church and even in the pews, can we please remind you all to the respect the children's hard work by not talking during the performance.

Winter Parties:

As we have done in previous years we will be having Winter parties in the last week of term, these parties are to celebrate the end of the first term. Your child’s phase leader will be sending out details of the parties shortly including a request for food donations (which will include some notes about food allergies). These parties are non-denominational so are accessible to pupils of all faiths.

Christmas Lunch:

A reminder that on Thursday, 7th December we will be having a Christmas lunch (a traditional roast dinner served with Christmas crackers and some Christmas music). On this day those who wish may wear Christmas or Winter jumpers.

Jaeger HC Festive Camp is now open for bookings:

Parents Choir:

Mr Chambers has offered that the parents and carers’ choir lead the congregation in a song at the winter concert. We’re keen for more singers, so if you are interested please join us.

The song is called ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ and links to the music and track are available to anyone who joins the Choir WhatsApp group. We are also going to rehearse on Sunday 17th December 4.30-6pm (address also via WhatsApp group).
