The Scoop Week 24th January 2023

Hello Lyndhurst Family,

Thank you to everyone who made it to our Curriculum Evening on Thursday, it was great to talk about our curriculum and to explain some of the changes that have and are happening. We will be putting the slides out this week (we need to record some dialogue to them as the slides alone will not be very helpful). Thank you also to all those who came to our SEND coffee morning. We are so pleased that so many families are actively taking an interest in our journey.

Here are this week’s notices.

A message from our new Trust Director of Creativity:
Dr Steven Berryman, Director of Creativity, Music and Culture for The Charter Schools Educational Trust, is keen to learn about the creative experiences of all our pupils. Parents and carers are welcome to share details via the form here https://forms.office.com/e/UGvXdHr5Be

Spagtastic:
I don’t know what to say about this. The logins still are not working, we have raised another concern with them and are awaiting a response. I do realise that this is frustrating and can only apologise on behalf of Spagtastic.

February Holiday Camp:
Bookings are now open for the February holiday camp details can be found by clicking on the link in the transcript. https://jaegarhc.co.uk/

Period Workshops:
As mentioned last week, several of the primary schools in our trust have teamed up to run some parent workshops on periods. They will now take place on Jan 31st at Dulwich Hamlet Junior School and Feb 2nd at Charles Dickens Primary School. Sign up details will be sent out this week in a separate flyer.

Swimming Volunteers:
Year 3 and 4 start swimming soon on a Friday morning. We are desperate for parents who can help walk the classes to and from the swimming pool. If you can help, please contact the school office or your class teacher. You don’t have to have a child in that year group to help.

The Library:
We are delighted that starting this week the library will now be open after school from 3:30 to 4pm on Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri. It is not to late to volunteer to help, just contact Mr Turnham or the office.

Phonics Coffee Morning:
A reminder that we have a phonics coffee morning this Friday in the library. We will be exploring what phonics is and what sessions look like at Lyndhurst. In addition, we will look at how you can support at home.

Southwark 2030:
You may have heard about an exciting initiative by Southwark Council called Southwark 2030, a project working to make Southwark an even better place for all. You can listen to a short message about it from Cllr Kieron Williams (link in the transcript below). We will also be hosting some listening events to give our local community a chance to add their voice to the discussion—keep an eye out for details. Watch a short video message from Cllr Kieron Williams, Leader of Southwark Council about Southwark 2030 (opens in YouTube)
