The Scoop Week 16th May 2023

Hello Lyndhurst Family,

This Saturday myself and an army of parents and staff went to Rosendale’s sports ground to watch our Yr 5&6 boys football team play their final game of the season in the Southwark and Lambeth League. They had everything to play for as they were in the top of the league. It was a thrilling match but our team kept the pressure on finishing in a 3-1 win to us. This victory secured our place as champions of our division. We are so proud of not only the entire team, who have been resilient and courteous all year both to other teams and within their team. They have also benefited from an exceptional coach, Jim (an ex parent and governor) has worked tirelessly with the team rain or shine to support them. I’d like to say a huge well done to Jim and the team!

This week’s announcements:

Mental Health Week:
This week in school we are taking part in Mental Health Awareness Week. Pupils will have an assembly and take part in some activities in class. On Thursday, we encourage everyone to wear green. More details can be found here.

Bike Storage:
Please can we ask that when you put your bikes into the bike store in the morning you don’t just leave them by the gates but put them on the racks. We have had a few injuries caused by bikes and scooters abandoned on the floor whilst there are still spaces on the racks. We are going to start opening the street gate at collection and will also start moving bikes after drop off if they are stored in a hazardous manner.

Lyndhurst Proms:
Are you interested in helping the music department plan and pull off the Lyndhurst Proms, if so then please contact Mr Chambers who is starting to put plans together (and has some lofty ideas for the event). Save the date 18th July (which is also the date of our art exhibition). achambers@lyndhurst.southwark.sch.uk

International Evening:
A reminder that if you would like to be involved in our international evening planning, please contact Ms Sawh. This will be taking place on Friday 9th June (not May as previously suggested).
